You spoke and we listened! Changes to La Rue Road show value of community input
Quick Summary
- Safety is a top priority for everyone traveling on and around campus. Read on to learn about upcoming changes to La Rue Road.
Watch for changes to La Rue Road, where we're adding stop signs in response to community input, including feedback from the Moving Forward Together initiative. The new stop signs are being installed to address concerns about vehicle speeds and create a safer environment for all.
La Rue Road connects residence halls and the School of Veterinary Medicine and serves a mix of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Beginning Jan. 20, all-way stop signs will be installed at the intersections of La Rue Road with Garrod Drive and Bioletti Way.. Additional measures, such as “Stop Ahead” signs, rumble strips, and re-striping crosswalks and bike lanes, will further alert drivers and improve traffic flow. To accommodate the work, traffic cones and flaggers will be present, though no detours will be required. Electronic signs will notify travelers two weeks before the changes and remain for three weeks after installation.
Safety is a top priority for everyone traveling on and around campus, whether by car, bike, or on foot. These updates were shaped by community comments which highlighted concerns about vehicle speeds on this busy corridor.
