Shape the Future of Sustainable Transportation at UC Davis
Attend Open House Nov. 12 to Contribute Your Ideas
UC Davis is inviting students, faculty, staff, and local community members to play an active role in shaping the future of sustainable transportation on campus by attending an Open House for the Moving Forward Together initiative. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for everyone to contribute their ideas to improve transportation safety, sustainability, and accessibility.
Open House Details
The Moving Forward Together Open House will take place on November 12, 2024, from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Student Community Center Multi-purpose Room. Participants are welcome to drop in at any time during those hours.
Attendees will have an opportunity to review the campus map with experts and share what they want to create, protect and avoid in the transportation system to help make walking, biking, and driving safer and more sustainable.
“Our priority is hearing from the community, including City of Davis residents,” said Lucas Griffith, executive director of Campus Planning. “They are the folks who see the ins and outs of getting to, from and around campus. This is a chance to creatively reimagine how transportation can work for all of us.”
And that’s not all…
By attending, participants will have the chance to win a Brilliant 'L' Train bicycle by Priority Bicycles, valued at $749. This sleek, sustainable ride aligns perfectly with UC Davis’s commitment to eco-friendly transportation.
Light refreshments will be provided.
A Comprehensive Vision for Safe, Sustainable Transportation
The Moving Forward Together initiative focuses on improving bike transit and pedestrian safety, while also addressing emerging mobility trends like electric scooters and e-bikes. A key part of this initiative is UC Davis’s commitment to Vision Zero, which aims to eliminate all traffic-related injuries and fatalities on campus. A major component of the initiative is gathering input from the campus community to identify areas where safety concerns exist, particularly in high-traffic or problematic areas, and prioritize improvements.
How to Get Involved Online
Can’t make it to the Open House in person? No problem! The Campus Planning team has many more events planned throughout fall quarter. Check out website the schedule and find a time that works best for you. You can also get involved by placing pins on an interactive map on our website. Share experiences, mark areas on the map where improvements are needed, and help us shape a safer, more sustainable campus transportation system.
“We need everyone’s input to shape a transportation system that truly works for our diverse campus,” said Griffith. “Our community’s feedback is not only necessary for helping us identify priorities but critical for helping us secure grant funding to make UC Davis safer, more accessible and sustainable place for all.”
